Busy today :)

Had a lazy day yesterday......  I think part of it was hubby going back to work after a 10 day break over the Christmas & New Year's Holidays.....  It was nice having him home, we got a bit accomplished.

We got the baby's room all cleared out of boxes from when we moved in December of 2009....  I now have to go through these boxes and decide what can be donated, put in a special place (childhood memorabilia) or stored in the shed.  Right now all the boxes are in the 3 season room.  Also need to index the contents of each numbered box.

As you can tell from my previous entry here we now have a crib for the baby.  I "discovered" kijiji.ca and have been looking at baby things on there seeing what can be bought second hand rather than new.  I was constantly wiping the drool off my keyboard....  saw so many beautiful items :)  We found the crib and learned that it was being sold by a family not far from where we live.  They had 3 cribs (I think their daughters were twins and had what looked like a slightly older boy) and for $300 we bought the 3 in 1 crib (crib, then turns into a daybed and then into a queen) and the mattress.  They tossed in a few leftover sheets they had (nothing matching) and we brought it home.  While putting it together, something looked a little awry....   I said to hubby this can't be right.  We had no instructions to work with (the plastic envelope labelled "instructions" on the mattress frame contained nothing) but fortunately we were able to see the furniture maker of this particular crib and googled that.  We found nothing but found a retailer that carried that particular model.  We phoned hoping they could shed some light on the instructions.  The gentleman on the phone was so helpful we bought a matching change table off him, and will be picking it up this Saturday.  I can't say enough good things about "Diapers N' More" from Waterloo, Ontario - shameless plug:  http://www.diapersnmore.ca/

We learned that we actually had two headboards that the two cribs must have gotten mixed up.  So we phoned the sellers up to inform them of this before the second crib sold.  We did the part swap the next day and hubby was able to put it together with no issue.  Looks really nice as you can see in the photos :)

Next on my watch list for baby items was a playpen that doubled as a bassinet like my sister in law has.  It also collapses and can be put into a carry bag for travelling, which would be ideal for us as our family is a little spread out.  I found one for sale on the same site posted just that morning, only this time quite further away (about 1½ to 2  hour drive away) but still asked about it's availability.  The girl said it was and based on the pictures we said we would buy it, but could we pick it up Saturday?  She wasn't sure about that as she had been burned by a no-show, so we phoned my MIL to see if she would be willing to pick it up for us as she lived closer than we did.  She wasn't home, left a message with my FIL.  Later the lady selling the playpen called back and said she would hold it for us until Saturday.  I sent an email confirming our purchase of it, the price agreed upon, and she responded back with her street address.  It is gorgeous:

You can probably tell why I was trying to make arrangements to get it!  The ad has since been removed from kijiji.ca

These playpens aren't cheap in the stores and this one second hand had everything I was looking for.  It also comes with a Winnie the Pooh mobile that isn't shown in the pictures.

Hubby and I have been following the IIHF World Junior Hockey tournament.  Down to one game left and Canada is playing Russia Wednesday night for the gold medal match.  They played USA last night and won 4-1.  I have lots of American friends, but I wouldn't be a true proud hoser if I didn't say that we avenged our gold medal loss to the USA last year in last night's game :)  GO CANADA GO!!

Well, second cup of tea beckons and then I must get on with my day and make up for yesterday's laze :)
