MIA for awhile

I've been kind of quiet here the past little while, just haven't been feeling well. I have adopted a diet of crackers, apple juice and sprite they seem to be the only things so far that I've been able to eat without adverse effects.

Still no visit from Aunt Flo so wonder if the way I've been feeling is yet another clue. I have a doctor's appointment on the 16th (Tuesday) to find out or at least take the blood test to find out and hopefully find out the same day.

Snow Accumulation So Far (2008-12-07)

This is the amount of snow that has fallen so far - none of it is drifting.

We're currently under a snow squall warning. Good day to curl up and play on the computer :)

Cross Posting Saga

OK, I took to Google and searched and found this article:

http://multiply.multiply.com/journal/item/137/Cross-post_with_Blogger

Which reads:

If you use our blog cross-posting feature, you already know that it can make your life easier -- that is, if living your life entails keeping multiple blogs.

Just consider this a quick heads-up to let you know that if this feature hasn't been making your life easier recently -- that is, if you've been having problems cross-posting to your Blogger account -- despair no more, as we've got a fix for you!

As it turns out, the few users who still haven't upgraded to a "new" Blogger account have been experiencing this problem. So, to get back to being your bad ol' cross-postin' self, just upgrade your Blogger account... simple as that! You'll find more information on upgrading here.

Note that you won't need to do anything differently on the Multiply side to get this working. Also, if you choose not to upgrade your Blogger account, you'll still be able to post to Multiply; you may just have to do without your posts appearing on Blogger as well.

as Homer Simpson would say..... D'oh!

Beautiful Winter Day

It's hard to wrap your head around "Beautiful Day" and "Winter" being in the same thought, let alone same sentence. But for someone like me who really notices the adverse effects of overcast lack of good sun days, I love days like today.

It is a chilly 37ºF out there, blue skied and the sun is just piercing right through the snow decorated trees.

Working more on the Granny Ripple Afghan and was showing photos of it to my friends when two of them asked me how big is it going to be? Good question. I'd been crocheting and crocheting and admiring the fact that it now covers my legs and keeping me warm as I crochet LOL The pattern called for 24 ounces of yarn, which for me was 8 balls of baby sport. Right now it's 35" long and I'm only on the 3rd ball of yarn with 5 more left. I consulted the pattern and it reads that the finished product would be 36" x 44" with the two rows of Single Crochet as trim around the blanket. It's a good thing I looked because I would have ended up with a potential 36" x 88" long blanket! So I think when i finish this ball of yarn I'll do the trim and make a second blanket.

I haven't decided what colour I'm going to do the trim, but I figure I'll do a gender neutral colour, perhaps yellow or pastel green.

Nightly Forecast

Tonight’s forecast: Dark. Continued mostly dark tonight turning to widely scattered light in the morning.

Woke up at 4:30 am with a dry mouth and the need to use the ladies room. It is now 5:00 am and I am still up. Ugh!

The real forecast is 28ºF with about 3 feet of snow if not 4'

Rob and I are planning another trip to Arkansas at the end of the month, as long as they keep roads open, and his remote access to work for the month end reports works. He's been working from home this week to test the remote access out and iron out any kinks. Better here than 1,000 miles away from home :)

My friend Lizz and I are extremely excited about this trip, the last time I saw her was May/June 2007 for my honeymoon. Lizz boasts several hummingbirds during the hummingbird season. To my two or three that visit my yard every year, she has an easy 50 birds at hers. She also has other birds that I would just love to see in my yard on a regular basis such as the painted bunting, indigo bunting, eastern phoebe, and other birds. It is an excellent opportunity for me (and Rob) to go there and visit and laugh and joke and have an all around GREAT time, and for me to get photos. We are also treated to genuine southern cuisine. Grits, biscuits (which is like our tea biscuits here) white breakfast gravy and everything else required to make your cholesterol doctor have heart failure.

For this year's trip, we will also be stopping in at Indiana to meet an internet friend and potentially bring her with us to Lizz's. We are all members of the hummingbird club and are used to emailing each other on a daily basis. We've also all talked on the phone as well. While I have met Lizz off list before on the Honeymoon, Julie and I, and Julie and Lizz have not. Hopefully the weather holds and Julie can make the trip with us.

There are several things I do need to pack for the trip specifically for the journey, such as pillows and blankets. Like the honeymoon, we are driving. Honda Civics are great fuel efficient car... but that's it. At least my base model proves that. It is difficult to get comfortable when you're driving non stop and your partner is driving while you are *supposed* to be sleeping to rest up to take over when your partner needs to sleep. However, since this trip is going to be made in the winter, I'm not sure how much driving I'll be doing. All the straight long stretches happened at night while I was driving. Since I was trying to avail to sleep during the day (in a base model honda civic....) I was tired at night, almost too tired to drive. But I managed to do the 4 hours through Illinois. I don't think it'd be wise to drive that fatigued in the winter. Hence the stop in Indiana to rest/sleep/visit.

Speaking of sleep, I'm starting to get tired again, so this is my cue to end here and get a few more hours sleep :)

G'night!

Coconut Macaroons

God blesses this kitchen but He doesn't clean it!

I currently have 3½ dozen coconut macaroons in two Ziploc Containers for Rob's munchie day at work tomorrow. Well, 3½ minus two or three *angelic grin*

They turned out pretty good, this being the first time I'd ever made them.

The recipe is dead simple too:

2 squares unsweetened chocolate
1¾ cup sweetened condensed milk
4 cups shredded coconut
1 tsp vanilla

Mix melted chocolate with sweetened condensed milk. Add coconut and blend well. Stir in vanilla. Drop by rounded teaspoons on a well greased cookie sheet.

Bake in moderate 350ºF oven for 8-10 minutes.

Let cool a little before removing from cookie sheet.

Quiet Evening

Planning on having a bit of a quiet evening, but I do need to do some baking.

Tomorrow, Rob has Munchie day at work and I did say that I'd make some coconut macaroons for the event.

I'll be doing that tonight and relaxing.

Pic... dreaming of hummingbirds... :)

Themes

I admire those who can create web graphics and especially those that create blogger themes for the rest of us to enjoy. I make graphics as well, but consider myself a newbie.

I run Paint Shop Pro not only version 7.04, but 10 as well. Since it is 28.4ºF outside and overcast, I don't necessarily feel like going outdoors. So instead, I think I'll open up PSP and see about making my own blogger theme.

Snow

An Alberta Clipper that swept through Indiana collided with a Low Front in Texas/Louisiana and barrelled it's way up to my neck of the woods.

These photos were taken yesterday morning and a little more snow has fallen since then.

Granny Ripple Afghan

When there is no hummingbirds for me to admire and photograph, I turn to things that I can do indoors. One of those hobbies is crocheting.

Hubby and I are working on getting kid #1 in the works so until the day arrives that I have a little bundle of joy in my arms, I take advantage of some crochet practise time.

This is the pattern I'm following:

Here is the progress as of this morning:

New Blogger

Thought I'd give this one a try and see what it was like. I'll most likely have posts here exported to my multiply blog.
